Procurement Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Buyer to join our team at the National Physical Laboratory. As a Senior Buyer, you will play a critical role in upholding quality while driving down cost, ensuring that the products, materials, and services we buy represent value for money.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire buying lifecycle, from tender process to order placement
- Identify, manage, negotiate with, and monitor suppliers
- Keep track of orders to ensure timely delivery, at cost, and to expected quality
- Update the procurement system at every stage
- Answer queries and resolve issues as needed
Requirements:
- CIPS qualified or equivalent degree qualification
- Experience in Public Sector Buying and understanding of Public Procurement Regulations and The Procurement Act
- Proven track record in Public Sector procurement and use of Frameworks
- Expertise in using procurement systems and E-tendering portals such as Bravo Solutions
- Experience in procurement of high-value capital items
- Ability to negotiate at the highest levels with suppliers
- Able to deliver procurement benefits, including financial savings
- Strong prioritization skills
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and change
- Excellent communication skills – written and oral
