Position Overview: The Facilities Maintenance and Compliance Unit operates under the Directorate of Estates & Facilities (DOEF) and manages a diverse portfolio of 229 properties. This includes over 30 heritage sites, such as significant cultural institutions, and encompasses more than 50,000 individual spaces. The unit is tasked with addressing upwards of 80,000 urgent repair requests annually across both academic and residential facilities, alongside managing over 600 emergency repair incidents each year.
Role Responsibilities: The Facilities Maintenance and Compliance (FMC) team is looking for a Head of Compliance and Maintenance. This role involves the strategic oversight and enhancement of Maintenance and Compliance functions across the University of Manchester's estate. Reporting directly to the Associate Director of FMC, you will lead a substantial team, which includes the Deputy Head of Maintenance, Area Managers, Deputy Head of Compliance, Lead Supervisors, and other technical personnel.
Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will possess a first degree and/or a relevant professional qualification at the chartered level, such as CIBSE or MRICS. Extensive experience in contractual frameworks and facilities management at both operational and strategic levels within a large organization is essential.
