Job Title: General Manager

Job Summary:

MRD Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to lead our Logistics Client's depot operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the depot, ensuring the highest levels of customer service, and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Provide strategic leadership and direction to the depot team, ensuring they are engaged, motivated, and committed to delivering exceptional results.
  • Operational Excellence: Develop and implement effective operational processes to optimize network performance, cost effectiveness, and depot productivity.
  • Financial Management: Create and deliver budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to ensure the depot's financial performance meets business targets.
  • Customer Service: Ensure the depot offers the highest levels of customer service to internal and external customers, meeting their needs and expectations.
  • Health and Safety: Lead the creation of a health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with O Licence regulations and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Compliance and Governance: Maintain compliance standards across all targeted areas, including ISO accreditation, and ensure the depot adheres to security procedures.
  • People Management: Manage and control working time hours, ensuring compliance with WTD and AWR, and develop succession plans to ensure operational capability is sustainable.
  • Networking and Collaboration: Network with other managers to gain best practice, and work with the Operations team and other business units to develop new products and commercial relationships.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: CPC National Certificate is desirable, and a full driving licence is required.
  • Skills and Experience: Proven experience in operational management, with a strong track record of achieving KPI targets and SLAs. Ability to assess operational performance, people, and process, and demonstrate a commercially focused and client-focused operating style.
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent leadership qualities, influencing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work flexibly, including covering the operation 24/7.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced understanding of Management Information and Excel spreadsheets, with good ability with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
