As a Senior Commercial Leader, your key responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating effective communication with Business Unit leaders, Regional Commercial Managers, project management teams, and other relevant departments to enhance the visibility of commercial services.
- Overseeing personnel matters, including succession planning, recruitment, development, and retention strategies.
- Managing all commercial aspects of staff performance evaluations and development reviews.
- Participating in HSQE meetings, weekly tender reviews, area management briefings, and senior commercial forums.
- Ensuring attendance at project initiation and closure meetings by the relevant team members.
- Organizing and participating in Area Commercial forums with commercial and operational staff regularly.
- Assisting in the drafting and promoting the use of business processes.
- Conducting audits and providing constructive feedback to the organization.
- Offering commercial insights during client interactions and discussions with client representatives.
- Providing commercial guidance to site teams regarding project-related issues and contributing to area commercial discussions.
- Engaging in conversations about project performance and contributing to project strategy.
- Contributing to the operational business plan, medium-term business plan, and quarterly and annual results.
- Ensuring the preparation of monthly cost and value reports, quarterly forecasts, and tied costs, and presenting these reports at local director reviews.
- Assisting in identifying and managing disputes.
- Overseeing tender reviews and contract award processes.
- Maintaining an updated library of contract conditions.
- Negotiating insurance claims with representatives from insurance companies.
- Negotiating and finalizing design agreements with designers.
- Engaging legal and commercial consultants and monitoring their accounts.
- Maintaining relationships with supply chain partners through contract vetting and input into contract documentation.
- Conducting vetting of sub-contract documents and contributing to sub-contract documentation.
- Extensive experience in the Civil Engineering Contracting sector.
- A proven track record of successfully managing a large commercial team responsible for major projects or a portfolio of projects.
- Experience at the Commercial Manager level or higher for at least five years.
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to effectively manage and motivate project teams.
- Affiliation with a Professional Institution such as RICS, ICES, ICE, or similar (preferred but not mandatory).
- A degree in a relevant field such as Commercial, Construction, or Project Management (preferred but not mandatory).
