About Our Opportunity

A highly motivated Mechanical Engineer is required to deliver and maintain a mechanical asset care policy that supports the achievement of Asset SHE, cost and reliability performance targets. This role is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to work within a plant area that has seen significant recent investment and includes a diverse array of mechanical equipment types.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Define and implement asset care policy for all rotating and static mechanical equipment in the Polymers business, to ensure delivery of ongoing asset reliability, integrity and cost commitments.
  2. Specify and audit inspection activities to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  3. Define Polymers mechanical engineering standards, procedures and practices to ensure full compliance with current and future discipline integrity and legislative requirements.
  4. Define and continuously develop the long term (+10 year) Mechanical Strategy for Polymers to facilitate the development of future budgets and workloads.
  5. Maintain asset spares and equipment holding to maximise asset reliability and to drive maintenance and TAR efficiency/cost performance.
  6. Provide discipline expertise and root cause analysis in troubleshooting asset vulnerabilities to minimise impact on the short through long term operating plan.
  7. Provide discipline expertise for all Polymers improvement projects and act as formal discipline representative to ensure successful service delivery.
  8. Lead trouble-shooting on critical equipment failures to establish root cause of failure and define improvements to maintenance regimes and equipment design to eliminate faults.
  9. Ensure correct overall mechanical spend to meet asset requirements within available budget and where required, drive appropriate prioritisation.
  10. Specify TAR work scope requirements (in accordance with asset strategy) and assist in execution to support delivery of safe, on time and to budget TAR's.
  11. Coach all relevant Polymers operations and support personnel to ensure sufficient competence to effectively execute their core roles and generate enhanced service delivery to the business.
About You

You should:

  1. Be degree qualified in a relevant discipline (preferably Mechanical Engineering).
  2. Have knowledge of theory and practice of managing equipment reliability systems and processes in a production/manufacturing facility e.g. asset care.
  3. Have petrochemical or refining manufacturing experience including new plant commissioning, TAR planning and execution and problem solving on large scale static and rotating equipment.
  4. Have a strong understanding of discipline legislative and regulatory requirements and demonstrated ability to appropriately translate these requirements into equipment inspection/maintenance regimes.
  5. Be skilled in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  6. Be self-motivated, with the ability to identify and pursue plant reliability issues to a satisfactory resolution.
  7. Have experience of following a Plant Modification process and associated documentation management systems.
