Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team at GDi. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out structural engineering for Global Design Ltd and other companies within our portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to and comply with company engineering procedures, industry, international, and client codes and standards.
- Stay up-to-date with current and new national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline scope.
- Produce calculations required for the role and participate in design reviews.
- Approve, check, and prepare design/engineering documentation, including interdisciplinary documents where necessary.
- Prepare engineering, construction, and equipment scopes.
- Create estimates and schedules and assist in their review.
- Monitor progress of work and achieve completion within the agreed schedule and budget.
- Monitor and report on progress and cost throughout.
- Manage 3rd Party Suppliers in the execution of discipline engineering delivery, including specification of equipment, materials, and subcontract scopes, review of supplier's quotations, and/or preparation of technical bid assessments as required.
- Produce documentation deliverables for inclusion in workpacks.
- Provide coaching and mentoring for junior members of the team.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in detailed design engineering and engineering checking/approval.
- Competent in the use of appropriate codes of practice, standards, and relevant sections of statutory documentation.
- Competent in the use of design and assessment methods used within the discipline.
- Competent in the use of analytical methods used within the discipline, including theoretical background for analysis programs.
- Competent in planning, progress monitoring, forecasting, and reporting.
- Sound time and resource management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Self-motivated, with the drive and initiative to carry out projects according to plan and the ability to quickly adapt in a fast-changing environment.
