Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver projects or portfolios of projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely, quality, and cost-effective delivery.
  • Ensure construction assurance through audits on quality of work, technical competencies, adherence to specifications, compliance with testing and commissioning procedures, and safety and environmental procedures.
  • Produce delivery plans and ensure provision of direct/contract resources, materials, and services to maintain project programmes.
  • Manage commercial arrangements with contractors to ensure contractual arrangements are met and cost controls are in place.
  • Provide monthly reports, including achievement, costs, and forecasts.
  • Manage portfolio delivery risks and provide early warning to mitigate and manage risk exposure.
  • Contribute to and be accountable for assigned portfolio projects for regulatory reporting requirements, including auditing of actual and forecast cost and output data.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure projects are managed from inception to completion.
  • Ensure all work is carried out to provide very high levels of customer service, minimizing customer interruptions and complaints.
  • Ensure all workers engaged in projects or portfolios of projects are aware of all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Develop project execution plans and present project governance approval papers.
Requirements:
  • Experience managing construction or engineering projects of values in the region of £10m plus.
  • Ideal degree in a construction or engineering-related subject; if not, equivalent experience through employment history.
  • Excellent understanding of construction management best practice.
  • Safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely; experience working with CDM regulations and ISO9001 quality processes.
  • Knowledge and experience of Primavera P6, online project collaboration tools, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office suite, and project management techniques.
  • Recognized project management qualification/membership, such as APM or Chartered status.
About the Role:

The Investment Delivery team is part of the Capital Programme & Procurement directorate. The team is responsible for programme management of NAMP lines and works with framework contractors to deliver the programme.

As the Project Manager, you will lead a matrix-structured, multi-disciplinary, and multi-contract project team, providing necessary direction, targets, and project milestones to ensure effective use of resources.

The Project Manager will ensure functions of project delivery are in place, including scopes of work, procurement processes, capital approval, resource planning, project delivery, reporting, and review.

The Capital Programme directorate is planning to increase Project Management competence in the team, and you will be required to undertake a formal qualification in Project Management.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

Managers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control, and those who might be affected by the work undertaken.

Employees will ensure they understand the health and safety risks involved in their work activities and their responsibility to apply the controls needed to manage those risks to acceptable levels.
