Job Opportunity: Graduate Teaching Assistant (Secondary)

GSL Education is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools in South Shields.

Job Summary: As a Graduate Teaching Assistant in a secondary setting, you will play a crucial role in providing academic support to students under the supervision of subject teachers. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate learning and personal development in older students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support classroom activities and help manage student behavior.
  • Provide targeted assistance to students during lessons.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and the setting up of equipment.
  • Help students understand lesson content and complete assignments.

Requirements:

  • A university degree, preferably in a subject taught at secondary level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with teenagers.
  • Proactive and eager to contribute to student learning.
  • Ability to work well under the guidance of a lead teacher.

Please note that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS on the update service or completing an application for a new check.
