The role is responsible for financial monitoring at higher education providers to protect the student interest.

  • Undertake detailed review of financial data and modelling output relating to individual providers where financial sustainability risk is greater.
  • Engage with senior management at individual providers on how they are managing financial risks and preparing for risks crystallising.
  • Ensure the regulator has an up-to-date understanding of providers' finances, contingency plans, and capacity to adapt to financial risks.
  • Provide expert advice on the financial management of providers in the context of financial risks.
  • Make formal recommendations where financial management requires improvement.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant and financial management experience.
  • Auditing and financial interrogation skills.
  • Senior Management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Relationship management skills.
  • Good understanding of the higher education sector and its finances is desirable.
  • Corporate Governance and Regulation experience.
