About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operational Buyer to join our Purchasing Department at James Walker and Co Ltd.

The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing quality products and materials, building relationships with suppliers, and negotiating the best pricing. They will also process requisitions, update management on order status, and ensure inventory levels are maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate expediting activities to achieve a minimum on-time delivery target of 98% from suppliers.
  • Liaise with site locations and production teams to resolve discrepancies on delivery dates.
  • Ensure sales and production objectives are met in terms of volume, delivery, and quality.
  • Procure goods, raw materials, consumables, services, and capital expense items in a cost-effective manner.
  • Achieve best price and delivery without compromising quality.
  • Manage supplier schedules and expediting activities.
  • Resolve administration problems related to procurement.
Requirements
  • Experience in a Buyer/Purchasing role within a busy office environment.
  • CIPS Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • Sound IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Experience with the Infor system is preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and customers.
