About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced General Kitchen Assistant to join our Catering team at Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing and carrying out catering services, ensuring the highest standards of health and safety, food hygiene, and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in ensuring Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Regulations are strictly observed and controlled.
- Ensure the security and food safety of all foodstuffs during delivery, storage, and distribution within the establishment.
- Prepare and cook varied and healthy menus for detainees, including special diets, special days, and religious events as directed by the Head Chef.
- Perform random Quality Checks on serveries' before, during, and after mealtimes where required.
- Train for and carry out any other work reasonably acceptable within the capabilities of the post holder, including ordering of all foodstuffs and consumables for all catering services.
Requirements
- Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills with good oral and written communication.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of risk and conflict management.
- Demonstratable experience of working in a high-pressured catering operation and within tight deadlines.
