Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role is integral to our procurement process, focusing on the acquisition of materials and goods essential for our operations. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure compliance with our quality standards and delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage purchasing activities and execute daily orders with suppliers.
  • Monitor outstanding deliveries and expedite as necessary.
  • Engage in request for quotation (RFQ) processes.
  • Conduct annual reviews of supplier contracts and participate in cost-saving initiatives.
  • Maintain supplier information and part numbers within our computerized systems.
  • Negotiate pricing, product quality, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Oversee supplier contracts, ensuring all documentation is accurate and current.
  • Develop delivery plans in collaboration with suppliers.
  • Handle non-conformance claims and coordinate with suppliers for replacements.
  • Identify and cultivate new suppliers for required materials for existing and new products.
  • Resolve technical issues with suppliers promptly to ensure uninterrupted supply.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including maintaining departmental documentation and records.
  • Generate reports to track supplier spending and performance against established KPIs.
Candidate Profile
  • Minimum GCSE Maths and English grade 4 or equivalent.
  • Experience in procurement and administrative roles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with Fourth Shift and SAP is preferred.
  • Resourceful, self-motivated, and committed to achieving goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and deliver results.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Capable of multitasking while adhering to deadlines.
  • Proactive approach to work responsibilities.

This position requires proof of the right to work and the ability to work onsite. Occasional travel may be necessary for training and supplier visits.
