Director of Acute Services

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Directorate Manager to join our team at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our Acute Division, you will play a crucial role in developing and managing services to deliver high-quality care for our patients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership, operational management, and strategic business planning to ensure the Division delivers and achieves its performance, quality, and efficiency objectives. You will have experience at a service management level, a proven track record of successfully delivering projects, and the ability to lead teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
Main Responsibilities:- To lead on the development of strategies and business plans for the Division, ensuring robust systems for performance management and quality governance are in place.
- To coordinate and promote the integration of operational management, service planning, and service delivery processes to achieve agreed service levels.
- To lead on the Divisional transformation programme, analysing opportunities for change to support the transformational agenda and engaging partners, patients, and stakeholders in all aspects of the change.
- To provide leadership that enables the delivery of high-quality, safe, and person-centred care through the engagement and empowerment of others.
- Master's qualification or equivalent experience.
- Recognised degree or diploma in management.
- Recent management experience in an acute hospital environment.
- Operational management experience in an acute environment.
- To be able to communicate confidently and assertively from written and verbal means to a wide range of individuals.
- To have the confidence to set ambitious targets and take calculated risks.
- To be politically astute.
- To have a 'can do' sense of confidence even in the face of opposition.
- Familiar with budget setting, monitoring, and actively managing variation.
- Delivery of KPI's within an acute NHS environment.
- Delivery of significant Cost Improvement Projects.
- Preparation and presentation of business cases.
- Ability to work effectively in partnership with clinical leaders.
- To be able to analyse, interpret, and use analytical skills in situations that are highly complex and multifunctional.
- To have knowledge of tendering and contracting processes.
