Lead Electrical, Control Systems & Instrumentation Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Lead EC&I Engineer to join our team in Peterborough, UK. As a key member of our engineering team, you will provide technical leadership and expertise in the design and development of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems for our steam turbine new build contracts.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing effective technical leadership to a small team of EC&I engineers, ensuring design processes are followed with a high degree of rigour.
  • Interpreting complex standard and legislation documentation to define design solutions and develop electrical, control, and instrumentation designs for procurement, installation, and commissioning of projects.
  • Specifying and approving control system Functional Design Specifications, Software Design Specifications, Logic Diagrams, and C&E Matrix.
  • Defining and writing PLC programs using Rockwell, Siemens, or Schneider and configuring visualization programs.
  • Simulating PLC and visualization programs using simulation tools and specifying and approving test and inspection procedures for electrical, control, and instrumentation equipment.

You will also be responsible for mentoring and developing your team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.

This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, with hybrid working arrangements allowing for a balance of home working and collaboration time with the team in our modern, friendly offices.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering topic, or equivalent experience and training.
  • 10+ years of experience in an EC&I design role, with demonstrable experience in leading small design teams to meet challenging targets.
  • Extensive experience in rotating machinery electrics, instrumentation, and control systems, as well as software tools for control system design.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
