Job Summary

As a Finance Business Partner, you will play a critical role in protecting public funds and adding value through finance assurance activities.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for fully qualified accountants to join the Financial Management and Partnering Directorate, which brings together Finance Business Partners, Strategic Finance Advisors, and Resource Modellers/Analysts into teams aligned to DWP Director Generals.

As a Finance Business Partner, you will develop a strategic understanding of the department's financial position, using your interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships with budget holders across the organization and key contracted provision suppliers.

You will provide advice, guidance, and highlight opportunities that consider the political and economic landscape, supporting the mitigation of risk and the development of business cases for new initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support strategic decision-making
  • Provide financial assurance to commercial and procurement exercises, analyzing affordability and value for money
  • Prepare reports for presentation to HM Treasury and develop business cases for new initiatives
  • Produce monthly management information packs to showcase forecast movements and their impact on in-year and future-year plans

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • A strong track record of improving and enhancing finance processes
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities while maintaining day-to-day activities and working to tight deadlines
  • Application of professional accountancy standards within a complex public or private sector environment

You must hold a full chartered level professional qualification awarded by a UK-recognised accountancy body, such as CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS, or Chartered Accountants Ireland.
