Job Title: Specialist Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support

Location: Blackburn, Single Form Entry Primary School

Contract: Full-time

Hours: 8.45am - 3.15pm

Hourly Rate: £12.90

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide support to a pupil with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis within Key Stage 1.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to the pupil in accordance with their Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Assist in the development of appropriate learning materials and resources to engage the pupil and facilitate their progress.
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher and SENCO to implement strategies that promote the pupil's social and emotional development.
  • Monitor the pupil's behavior and emotional well-being, and implement de-escalation techniques when needed.
  • Offer a safe and nurturing environment that fosters the pupil's self-esteem and confidence.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, sharing progress updates and collaborating on strategies for support.

Requirements:

  • Level 2 qualification in Teaching and Learning or relevant equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH and strategies to support pupils in an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for facilitating the development of young learners.
