Building Services Assistant

Pertemps is seeking a dedicated Facilities Maintenance Operative to join our team.
The responsibilities of a Facilities Maintenance Operative encompass security management, portering duties, building upkeep, grounds care, health and safety compliance, driving tasks, and cleaning responsibilities.
Salary: £24,500
Hours: Shift pattern from 7am-6pm
Key Responsibilities:
Security Management:
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of procedures for securing and accessing all facilities, ensuring that alarms are activated or deactivated as necessary while confirming that all lights and equipment are turned off and windows are secured.
- Conduct regular patrols of the premises to enhance the physical security of all assets and provide a visible security presence.
- Oversee CCTV operations in accordance with data protection regulations, responding to incidents as needed and reporting any equipment issues to the appropriate authorities.
- Monitor visitor and contractor activities to maintain the security of the premises and its contents.
- Ensure that all fire and security alarms are operational at all times, reporting any deficiencies to the relevant team leader for prompt resolution.
- Perform maintenance, decoration, and minor repairs on equipment, furniture, fixtures, and the building structure as directed by the Facilities Management team.
- Monitor equipment to ensure proper functioning, identifying faults and turning off appliances when not in use.
- Ensure that all drainage systems are clear and functioning properly, maintaining cleanliness in all areas.
- Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of all outdoor areas, ensuring they are free from litter and debris.
- Manage landscaping tasks including hedge trimming, grass cutting, weed control, and maintaining flower beds.
- Ensure that sports facilities are kept clean and well-maintained, keeping accurate maintenance records.
- Clear pathways and entrances of obstructions, treating surfaces during adverse weather conditions to ensure safety.
- Oversee the cleanliness of the premises during closures and outside contracted cleaning hours, addressing spillages and restocking supplies as necessary.
- Provide portering services between departments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of parcels.
- Respond to online requests as directed by management, assisting with office relocations and waste management.
- Prepare rooms for various college activities, ensuring they are set up according to requirements.
- Willingness to participate in relevant training programs.
- Basic understanding of health and safety protocols.
- Ability to follow written procedures and guidelines.
- Possession of a valid full driving license.
