Job Summary:

This is a challenging opportunity for a skilled software engineer to join our team in Cambridge, UK. As a Senior Systems Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing embedded software architecture and code base to support read and writer systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement embedded software architecture and code base to support read and writer systems.
  2. Collaborate with system designers, electronics engineers, FPGA developers, and mechanical engineers to understand their requirements and implement suitable software solutions.
  3. Diagnose and troubleshoot interactions between hardware and software.

Requirements:

  1. Creation of real-time embedded code in a Linux environment to control custom electronic subsystems.
  2. Experience with Linux, down to the device tree level.
  3. Rust coding experience.
  4. Proficient in communication and teamwork in a multi-disciplinary and highly agile environment.
  5. Able to work independently with minimal supervision towards partly-defined tasks, interacting with others in the team to clarify needs and iterate quickly.
  6. Control of scientific or industrial equipment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's in Computer Science/Scientific/Engineering disciplines + 5 years' experience.

Working Environment:

This role requires onsite work 50% of the time, with the remaining time spent on remote work. You will be working closely with a cross-disciplinary team to build real hardware and push the boundaries of science.
