We are currently seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter (Fixed Plant) to support our operations. This position involves working at multiple sites, and a company vehicle will be provided for your convenience.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Mechanical Maintenance Fitter (Fixed Plant) will be an integral part of the maintenance and operational teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Addressing equipment breakdowns promptly to ensure production continuity, with a focus on implementing lasting solutions.
  • Performing urgent repair tasks efficiently on all production machinery.
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of preventative maintenance and scheduled shutdowns.
  • Managing small-scale projects with a proactive and practical approach.
  • Adopting a cost-effective mindset towards maintenance tasks and engaging in root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
  • Coordinating with external contractors and suppliers during their site visits.
  • Contributing to the enhancement of the engineering function through your insights and experiences.
  • Executing welding and fabrication tasks to a high standard.
  • Utilizing risk assessments and method statements to develop safe working practices for repair operations.
  • Upholding Health & Safety regulations and adhering to all company protocols.
  • Identifying and reporting unsafe conditions and practices through established company procedures.
  • Using the computerized maintenance management system to document all work, including fault descriptions, spare parts utilized, and repairs completed.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The perfect candidate for the Mechanical Maintenance Fitter (Fixed Plant) role will be self-driven, enthusiastic, and capable of working independently. Candidates should possess relevant experience in an industrial or factory setting. The ideal qualifications include:

  • A recognized apprenticeship (preferably at a higher level).
  • ONC/HNC qualifications (desirable but not mandatory).
  • A robust background in mechanical systems, preferably in heavy industry, including conveyors, motors, pumps, and other related equipment.
  • A strong ability to diagnose faults and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Experience in bearing removal and installation.
  • Capability to perform emergency repairs on production equipment efficiently.
  • Proficiency in assessing SHE risks associated with work activities and implementing necessary controls.
  • Familiarity with site-specific SHE procedures and safe working practices.
