Job Overview

Position: Senior Urban Catchment Engineer

Location: Various locations across the UK

AtkinsRéalis stands at the forefront of Surface Water Management (SWM), actively engaging in discussions both nationally and internationally on the integration of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) within green-blue infrastructure and urban planning. By becoming part of our SWM national team, you will collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, working on significant projects for a wide range of clients, including municipal authorities, developers, and water service providers. You will also contribute to the creation of innovative digital solutions tailored to our clients' needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a variety of projects focused on stormwater management, wastewater systems, and integrated drainage networks.
  • Perform feasibility assessments and scoping studies, utilizing advanced computer modeling techniques for catchment drainage analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with technical experts in the field, potentially becoming the regional authority on Surface Water Management and SuDS.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and maintain strong relationships with key clients.

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for a qualified individual with extensive experience in:
  • Integrated Catchment Modelling, focusing on the interplay between sewer systems, watercourses, and surface runoff.
  • Blue-Green Infrastructure design and implementation.
  • Strategic Catchment Planning, assessing hydraulic and environmental requirements to enhance catchment efficiency.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of the water sector and sustainability challenges.
  • Proven experience in surface water management initiatives.
  • Familiarity with UK water industry regulations and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software, preferably ICM.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desirable Attributes:
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary project collaboration.
  • Commercial acumen and understanding of business dynamics.
  • Ability to inspire and develop junior team members.
  • Chartered status with a recognized institution (ICE or CIWEM).
