About Us: The Education Network Leeds is a leading educational support organisation dedicated to providing exceptional educational opportunities for pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to work within our SEN schools across Kirklees, with a specific focus on managing challenging behaviour and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes social and emotional well-being.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students who may require additional assistance with their learning or emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO, parents, and external agencies to ensure that each student's needs are met effectively.
  • Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and emotional well-being, providing regular feedback to the teaching team.
  • Contribute to the overall positive ethos of the school and uphold its values and policies.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a similar role within the SEN school sector, particularly with a focus on managing challenging behaviour and SEMH needs.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies for supporting students with SEMH needs.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • An understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
