Job Introduction

BBC Studios' Natural History Unit (NHU) is a leading producer of wildlife programming, renowned for creating award-winning content with a world-class reputation.

Our output ranges from ambitious landmarks for BBC One and iPlayer to children's programming, as well as ground-breaking adventure, formatted, presenter-led, feature docs, and event programming.

Main Responsibilities

You will need to be highly creative and organized, with good storytelling skills, to develop outstanding content ideas.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Generating ideas and finding stories from around the world
  • Presenting ideas to producers
  • Working independently and collaboratively with the team
  • Forging relationships with external partners, such as scientists and conservation groups
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An academic qualification(s) and/or specialist knowledge of plant animal relationships
  • Good contacts and knowledge of leading experts in the field of plant and animal biology
  • A strong interest in clear written storytelling and the ability to turn scientific ideas into accessible stories
Job Package

This is a Band B role, with a salary range of £27,000 - £34,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.

The expected salary range reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Contract type: FTC 6 months with potential to extend

Location: Bristol/remote

Working Pattern: Hybrid
