Deputy Payroll Manager

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Payroll Manager to join their team in Inverness. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing organization and contribute to the accurate and timely processing of payroll for over 18,000 employees.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs the Deputy Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing and payment of Barchester Healthcare employees, in accordance with all statutory and company accounting requirements. You will provide support and guidance to the payroll team, deputize for the Payroll Manager, and develop effective working relationships with management, operational, and support staff.
Key Accountabilities- Ensure the accurate and timely processing and payment of Barchester Healthcare employees via the MHR iTrent Payroll System
- Provide support and guidance to the payroll team and deputise for the Payroll Manager in their absence
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with management, operational, and support staff
- Understand and implement company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures
- Process RTI Returns and the reconciliation of PAYE
- Handle P11d expenses and benefits, including company cars
- Support year-end processing, as directed by the Payroll Manager
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Essential Requirements:
- Professional payroll qualification (CIPP Diploma/Degree or equivalent)
- Extensive payroll knowledge and experience of processing large volume payrolls
- Previous supervisory experience
- Report writing experience (SAP Crystal reports or Business Objects equivalent)
- Accounting experience/use of accounting systems
- Excellent IT literacy and PC skills including Excel
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience of working in a healthcare organization
- Knowledge of NHS payroll procedures and regulations
