Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused API Integration Specialist to join our dynamic team at Rail Delivery Group. This role is pivotal in enhancing our digital platforms through the implementation of new features. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical foundation, particularly in API development, along with exceptional analytical abilities and strong communication skills to effectively liaise between technical teams and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management and Collaboration:

  • Analyze and refine project requirements to ensure the proposed API designs align with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal security and architecture teams, as well as external suppliers, to maintain compliance with established standards and best practices.
  • Engage with suppliers to guarantee that APIs are developed with security, efficiency, and scalability in mind.
  • Ensure comprehensive and high-quality API documentation is produced.
  • Work closely with supplier development teams to facilitate the seamless integration of APIs into both new and existing systems.
  • Coordinate with business stakeholders to capture their requirements and ensure that releases meet their expectations.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for business users on API functionalities and release protocols.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance team in testing APIs, identifying, and resolving any bugs or performance challenges.
  • Collaborate with product owners to prioritize and manage the product backlog effectively.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a technical analyst capacity, emphasizing API development and integration.
  • Proficient understanding of RESTful and SOAP APIs, as well as XML.
  • Experience with API management tools such as Postman or Swagger.
  • Familiarity with web services, microservices architecture, and cloud computing technologies.
  • Knowledge of database systems (SQL, NoSQL) and data formats (JSON, XML).
  • Awareness of security best practices related to APIs.
  • Experience using Jira for project management and issue tracking.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex technical information and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
