Job Description

Main Purpose of the Role

The Head of Procurement at Huntress is responsible for ensuring compliant and timely delivery of procurement activities, streamlining processes, and fostering innovation. This role involves coordinating technical, marketing, finance, and IT teams, aligning procurement programs with pre-tender and post-award activities, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a central advisor on Public Contracts Regulations and procurement reform, providing expert guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement a rolling 10-year procurement strategy in collaboration with regional teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Manage day-to-day procurement activities, including OJEU notices, e-portal data, ITT submissions, and certification checks, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead the entire procurement process from business case development to contract mobilisation, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Ensure all procurement documents meet regulatory standards and are accurate and user-friendly, maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Oversee due diligence for suppliers and contractors, ensuring thorough evaluation and risk assessment.
  • Manage external Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) platforms, optimizing procurement processes and reducing costs.
  • Develop training tools for teams on procurement processes and systems, enhancing knowledge and skills.
  • Support marketing efforts by providing input on promotional material and attending industry events, promoting the company's brand and expertise.

General Responsibilities

  • Ensure proficiency in internal systems, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and tools.
  • Travel across the UK for meetings and events as required, representing the company and building relationships.
  • Participate in presentations, workshops, and procurement events, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Mentor and manage the procurement team, fostering a positive work environment and promoting career development.
  • Continuously develop expertise in public procurement regulations, staying ahead of industry trends and changes.

Experience:

  • Proven experience preparing and reviewing public procurement documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of contractual frameworks and procurement regulations, providing expert guidance and advice.
  • Experience in developing multi-user, multi-supplier frameworks, optimizing procurement processes and reducing costs.
  • Strong track record of delivering results in a team environment, driving business growth and success.

Desirable Experience:

  • Public sector construction and dynamic purchasing systems, with a deep understanding of industry-specific regulations and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • MCIPS or FCIPS certification required, demonstrating expertise and commitment to the profession.
  • Degree-level education (desirable), with a strong foundation in business, procurement, or a related field.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong IT literacy, financial awareness, and attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
