Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Paediatric Intensive Care Nurse to join our client's Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in London. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to critically ill children and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the PICU team in the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse, ensuring seamless delivery of care.
  • Develop and implement holistic care plans for children, taking into account their individual needs and circumstances.
  • Mentor and support junior and student nurses, promoting their professional development and growth.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care, including medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.
  • Foster strong relationships with children and their families, providing emotional support and guidance throughout their hospital stay.
  • Ensure excellent clinical governance and participate in audits, promoting a culture of quality and safety.
  • Supervise and assess students, and lead shifts as needed, demonstrating expertise and leadership skills.
Requirements
  • NMC Child Registered Nurse (RN Child / RSCN) with immediate paediatric life support.
  • Post Graduate experience in a PICU setting, with a strong understanding of Safeguarding issues.
  • Teaching and mentoring experience, with a focus on promoting best practice and excellence in care.
  • Completion of a PICU Course equivalent to 60 credits, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Excellent clinical governance and audit experience, with a focus on promoting a culture of quality and safety.
  • Experience in supervising, assessing students, and shift leading, with a focus on promoting leadership and management skills.
