Position Overview: The Research Fellow will play a pivotal role in the design, execution, and analysis of extensive clinical trials and systematic reviews aimed at formulating evidence-based guidelines that enhance the health outcomes of diverse populations.
Focus Area: The study of Multiple Long-Term Conditions (Multimorbidity) addresses the significant issue of individuals living with two or more health conditions, which has been a critical factor in premature mortality and disability.
Objectives: One of the primary objectives is to investigate how the treatment of specific illnesses may be influenced by the presence of additional diseases within multimorbid clusters. This involves conducting efficient clinical trials to evaluate potential preventive and therapeutic strategies for individuals facing multiple, chronic health challenges.
- Designing Clinical Trials: Develop and implement clinical trials within the scope of multimorbidity.
- Data Analysis: Engage in independent research, analyzing comprehensive data from large-scale clinical trials.
- Research Dissemination: Present research outcomes through scientific publications, policy documents, conferences, or community meetings.
- Collaboration: Participate in BRC multimorbidity theme activities and meetings.
- Coordination: Work alongside other BRC thematic collaborators at Imperial College London.
- Research Development: Share responsibilities in shaping the research group's strategic plans and contribute to funding applications for new research initiatives.
Qualifications:
- A medical background or experience in managing multiple long-term conditions (such as cardiology, general practice/internal medicine, nephrology, endocrinology, or neurology) is preferred.
- Candidates without a medical background but with substantial training in clinical epidemiology or biostatistics related to clinical trials are also encouraged to apply.
- A PhD degree (or equivalent experience) in fields such as clinical epidemiology, public health, statistics, data science, or related areas is required.
- Experience in analyzing large-scale clinical trials, administrative databases, or routinely collected health-related datasets is essential.
- Proficiency in research methodologies and statistical techniques is necessary.
- Practical experience in a research and clinical trial setting, along with publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals, is advantageous.
