Position: Principal Engineer – Cyber Security

Location:

Your role will involve establishing a risk-based framework of cyber security requirements for systems or subsystems, offering technical guidance and support across all facets of cyber security and resilience. You will conduct cyber security analysis, develop threat taxonomies, security architectures, security baselines, and risk mitigations. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating test plans and schedules, as well as performing both informal and formal cyber security testing. You will support engineering gated reviews and design assurance activities, and produce security documentation such as risk registers, security assurance cases, plans, and schedules.


Essential Qualifications:
A degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant STEM discipline or Information Security field. Recognized industry security certifications, such as CCP, CISSP, or CISM (or the ability to obtain them).

Proven experience in assessing and managing risk in accordance with industry best practices (NIST, ISO). Significant experience in utilizing security baselines, mitigations, and controls. An engineering background or strong familiarity with a lifecycle phased approach is also essential.

Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in Product Security activities within the defense, maritime, or closely related sectors. Familiarity with MOD policies and regulations such as SPF, JSP 440, and JSP604, along with the production of Risk Management Accreditation Document Sets (RMADS).

Knowledge of the challenges impacting the security of Operational Technologies/Industrial Control Systems and strategies to secure them. Exposure to project management is also beneficial.

The Engineering Delivery Team:

Our team is responsible for the design, construction, integration, and ongoing support of all Submarine Platforms within the Royal Naval fleet.

By leveraging your expertise, you will identify, analyze, evaluate, and manage information security risks associated with the products utilized on board submarines.
