Job Summary: We are seeking a Prison Facilitator to lead the delivery and development of our prison-based reading and numeracy programme at HMP Maidstone.

About the Role: As a Prison Facilitator, you will work closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors to maximise opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery and development of our prison-based reading and numeracy programme
  • Build relationships with prison staff, people in prison, and Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve literacy levels amongst people in prison
  • Collaborate with the prison and HMPPS to ensure programme success

Requirements:

  • Experience of prison settings and ability to build relationships
  • Personal qualities including resilience, determination, and problem-solving approach
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
