Role Summary
The Electric Vehicle (EV) Systems Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and instrumentation of high-voltage systems in Changan's development vehicles. This position involves both hands-on work with vehicles and operational tasks on test rigs.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a minimum of 2 years of technical experience in the electric vehicle sector, particularly with high-voltage drive and battery systems. Relevant experience may be gained from roles at vehicle testing facilities, automotive manufacturers, or service centers. Candidates must hold qualifications to work on electrical systems, which may include dealer service training or accredited courses.
- NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent certification
- Certification to work on high-voltage electric vehicle systems
- Experience as an EV or Electrical Vehicle Technician
- Familiarity with EV systems, including electric machines, inverters, batteries, battery management systems, DC-DC converters, and vehicle charging
- Knowledge of control systems and data acquisition tools (e.g., AVL PUMA, SCP CADET) is advantageous
- Experience in fabrication and machining
- Possession of a full, valid driver's license
Key Responsibilities
- Instrumentation of powertrains and vehicles for testing, development, and diagnostics
- Support testing of components and powertrain systems on test rigs
- Perform servicing, repairs, and upgrades on vehicles
- Diagnose faults in vehicle powertrains and test cell equipment
- Collect test data and conduct initial analysis and interpretation of results
- Lead testing activities and collaborate closely with project teams
- Manage data output from testing processes
- Oversee daily maintenance and enhancements of test cells
- Contribute to advanced testing initiatives, including vehicle projects
- Fabricate and modify prototype or development components
- Adhere to Electrical Permit to Work systems
