About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Construction Manager to join our Highways team at Galliford Try. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in creating a safe working environment and coordinate site set up as required.
  • Oversee day-to-day construction activities, ensuring effective coordination with the site team, clients, and contractors.
  • Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders, maintaining regular contact to ensure project progress and satisfaction.
  • Ensure efficient use of site resources, minimizing waste and optimizing project delivery.
  • Coordinate resources working on the project, ensuring temporary and permanent works are delivered in accordance with design.
  • Carefully manage materials and plant to meet project objectives.
  • Assist in planning and programming with site engineering teams.
  • Participate in site discipline meetings to facilitate effective coordination and delivery of the works.
  • Ensure Permit to Work systems, inductions, and briefings are correctly carried out.
  • Identify new processes, techniques, and innovations on site.

About You:

  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with site teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Execution of construction work in line with ITPs, quality standards, and safety documentation.
  • Capable of delivering safety briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Able to read and interpret design drawings.
  • Calm, level-headed approach with strong communication skills to get the most out of the team and subcontractors.
  • Good customer liaison skills.
  • Direct line management experience to develop, mentor, and discipline individuals or teams.
  • Construction-related further education.
  • Member of a professional body, such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
  • Relevant Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
