About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Solent NHS Trust. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership and expertise in Old Age Psychiatry, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultant input to the community Older Adult Mental Health (OPMH) South Locality team, including direct patient contact, multidisciplinary team working, record keeping, and risk management.
  • Supervise and support the team, including face-to-face contact and home visits, to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
  • Complete outpatient clinic sessions and domiciliary visits, with a focus on managing clinical administration, supervising the team, and providing telephone advice to GPs and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in emergency Mental Health Act assessments and provide urgent clinical advice to community teams as needed.

Person Specification
  • Included on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register for Old Age Psychiatry or a Higher (ST6 and above) trainee within 6 months of completing their CCT.
  • Registered with the GMC as an approved Clinical/Educational supervisor or willing to complete this training.
