Job Title: Team Leader - Children and Young People

Sanctuary Personnel Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Leader to join our team in Medway. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of social workers and personal advisors who work with children in care, care experienced young people, and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of social workers and personal advisors to deliver high-quality services to children in care and care experienced young people.
  • Develop and implement effective partnership working with other Council services and partner agencies to improve outcomes for looked-after children and young people.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Council's Corporate Parenting vision for Children in Care Leavers, ensuring the objectives and priorities are realized.
  • Lead, manage, and motivate a staff team to ensure high-quality supervision, case management oversight, and timely decision-making.
  • Allocate cases within statutory timescales, supporting positive transitions and ensuring looked-after children reviews and pathway plan reviews have clear objectives and outcomes.
  • Complete and review performance development plans for the team, enhancing individual personal and professional development needs and contributing to staff retention.
  • Effectively use available team performance data to monitor standards and performance, ensuring compliance with practice standards and procedures.
  • Provide high-quality reflective case supervision to social workers and personal advisors, ensuring management oversight, professional challenge, and support for the progression of children and young people's plans.
  • Contribute to the management of the staffing budget for the team, approving and committing expenditure within delegated authority, and monitoring and reporting commitments.
  • Support the safer recruitment and selection of new staff, both within the team and across Children's Social Care, to ensure staffing levels are maintained.
  • Keep up-to-date with the Council's organisational policies, government guidance, legislation, research, and national trends to maintain the highest professional standards.

Requirements:

  • A professional Social Work qualification or equivalent.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with experience of leading and managing a team of social workers and personal advisors.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, service users, and partner agencies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing competing demands.
  • Knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and the Care Planning, Placement and Case Review (England) Regulations 2010.
