Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Advisor to join our team at Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on surgical site infection prevention and control, and will play a key role in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on surgical site infection prevention and control to clinicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to reduce surgical site infections and improve patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify and address areas for improvement in surgical site infection prevention and control.
  • Monitor and analyze data on surgical site infections, and use this information to inform quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clinicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to promote a culture of safety and quality improvement.
  • Participate in local, national, and international surveillance systems of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Trust policies and procedures related to surgical site infection prevention and control.
  • Provide education and training to healthcare professionals on surgical site infection prevention and control.
  • Formulate and implement the SSIS Education Programme and handle the SSIS webpage, updating it regularly.
  • Responsible for publication of quarterly SSIS Newsletters.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with a strong background in surgical site infection prevention and control.
  • Proven experience in quality improvement and patient safety.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Working Arrangements

This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
