Position Overview

The Construction Operations Supervisor is a vital site-based role, ensuring effective management of all construction activities under the guidance of the TDA Construction Manager. This position focuses on maintaining high standards in Health & Safety, adherence to schedules, quality assurance, and professional conduct. The Supervisor serves as the primary liaison for all ongoing task orders on-site, directly reporting to the TDA Construction Manager regarding all operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee, manage, and control discipline-specific operations in compliance with Construction (Design & Management) regulations, while ensuring accountability remains with the Construction Programme Manager.
  • Assist in the development, review, and approval of Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) in accordance with TDA protocols.
  • Implement change control procedures in alignment with client processes regarding SSoW.
  • Facilitate the creation and delivery of pre-job briefs and task startup documentation.
  • Ensure immediate reporting of accidents and incidents in line with the TDA Construction Management System.
  • Verify that all personnel assigned to tasks on behalf of TDA possess the necessary qualifications and experience.
  • Monitor and track the delivery of agreed schedules, ensuring timely execution of tasks.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers to swiftly address technical inquiries, resource allocation, equipment, and material concerns, as well as schedule adjustments.
  • Support the preparation of Requests for Quotation (RFQ) by ensuring adherence to construction norms.
  • Participate in essential task-specific meetings, contributing to discussions on progress, constructability, and safety assessments.
  • Contribute to Post Job Reviews, capturing lessons learned for future improvement.
  • Maintain professionalism, adaptability to change, and proactively suggest enhancements that add value.
  • Interface with key client resources to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Compile site-based documentation to support Lessons Learned Reports (LTRs).

Accountabilities

  • Conduct daily Workplace and Housekeeping Inspections.
  • Ensure SSoW documentation is current and readily available to prevent delays.
  • Administer and complete Construction Quality Punch Lists efficiently.
  • Engage with inspection authorities at relevant project stages.
  • Ensure compliance with TDA's standards and expectations.
  • Timely administration of Site Status reports, including detailed analysis of activity codes, delays, disruptions, and workforce numbers.
  • Attend and support Integrated Work Management (IWM) daily end-of-shift meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with the Client's Management System at the task level.
  • Brief supervisors and allocate resources according to agreed outputs, reporting any variations to the Construction Manager.
  • Manage Goods Inward processes to ensure proper logistics for works.
  • Report any 'off-normal' conditions using the designated reporting system.
  • Foster and maintain professional relationships with clients in a collaborative spirit.

Authorities

  • Authorized to initiate or halt work under TDA control, particularly when Health & Safety compliance is at risk or quality objectives cannot be met.
  • Authorized to reassign operatives to alternative tasks when planned works are impractical, with communication to Construction Management.

Minimum Training/SQEP Requirements

  • TDA Induction Training.
  • IOSH Managing Safely Certification.
  • Site Supervisor/Manager Health & Safety Test CSCS Card.
  • Professionally recognized qualification in the relevant discipline.
  • Experience in the supervisory field of work.
  • Relevant training and experience in management and supervisory skills.

  • Site Induction Training.
  • Security Check (SC) clearance or higher.
  • Access to restricted areas training.
  • Decommissioning Safety Induction.
  • Awareness training in Nuclear Safety.
