SENIOR MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN – WATER SOLUTIONS

LOCATION: NORWICH

Role Overview:

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Senior Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our team at Galliford Try.

Ideally, candidates should be located in or near the Norwich area.

Galliford Try is a multi-award-winning provider of Process Solutions.

We specialize in the design, production, and maintenance of factory-assembled, packaged Water & Wastewater Treatment Systems, Process Software/Systems Integration, and Electrical Control Panels.

This position is ideal for individuals with a background in mechanical assembly or fitting. Candidates may have experience as a mechanical fitter or in roles involving pumps, piping, pressure testing, or valves. Experience in commercial or domestic settings, or familiarity with plumbing or heating systems, is also beneficial.

We are looking for a proactive, hands-on team player who can ensure our products are constructed and assembled accurately and efficiently, adhering to designs, specifications, and production timelines.

The role may involve the installation of piping and large equipment.

Daily responsibilities will include mechanical assembly and piping work (as applicable), following established procedures, instructions, and drawings.

You will be responsible for verifying that components and equipment align with job parts lists and Bills of Materials, promptly reporting any issues, discrepancies, or shortages to Production Management.

Additionally, you will prepare finished products for dispatch, assist with loading and unloading vehicles as necessary, and communicate effectively with colleagues and external partners.

When required, you may need to support site-based activities, including installations.

Candidate Profile:

Competency Requirements

Essential:

  • Ability to meet production schedules within allocated timeframes.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role or industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety practices in the workplace.
  • Proficient understanding of plastic piping manufacturing techniques, including glued and welded methods.
  • Capability to interpret P&ID drawings.
  • Experience in plastic fabrication.

Desirable:

  • Experience working on-site.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement methodologies.

Technical / Professional Qualifications Required

Essential:

  • GCSEs at grade 'C' or above in English, Maths, and Science.
  • City and Guilds level (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualifications.
