Finance Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Finance Assistant to join our team at National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED). As a key member of our Accounts Payable team, you will play a vital role in delivering a professional service to both internal stakeholders and external trade suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:- Process and check invoice documentation, including statutory checks for VAT.
- Communicate with business representatives and external customers to resolve enquiries and outstanding invoice and payment queries.
- Investigate statements, queries, and obtain credit notes from suppliers for pricing errors or short deliveries.
- Operate, administer, and understand numerous transaction processes and payment procedures for suppliers, corporate & procurement card schemes, wayleaves, non-orders, and foreign payments.
- Manage payment transaction administration for Bacs & cheques.
- Adhere to reporting, control, and reconciliation procedures.
- Previous experience working in a similar environment and strong diplomacy and communication skills to manage customer relationships.
- Knowledge of internal procedures and systems, as well as awareness of associated statutory requirements and compliances.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Excel.
- Good interpersonal skills, self-confidence, and ability to work unsupervised in a team environment, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment and align skills to different stakeholders.
- Strong results orientation.
- Salary between £31,973 - £34,793 depending on experience.
- Annual Bonus (based on personal and company performance) and annual salary review.
