Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee the safe and compliant operation of our fleet, as well as manage the HR processes and procedures for our drivers and traffic office team.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure legal compliance and safety of all drivers and vehicles
  • Manage HR processes, including sickness and absence, grievance and disciplinary procedures
  • Conduct thorough and accurate incident investigations
  • Liaise with unions
  • Implement measures to ensure systems of work are being adhered to
  • Conduct toolbox talks, training, and driver engagement at all locations
  • Recruit and select drivers and traffic office team members
  • Manage the service, inspection, and repair of the fleet
  • Manage driver performance
  • Manage the driver and office rota and holiday planning
  • Manage the production and compilation of risk assessments for delivery sites
  • Provide general leadership and direction to the transport team
  • Manage all aspects of driver training, assessment, and qualification
  • Conduct monthly depot audits
  • Lead by example in promoting a safe and compliant working environment
  • Communicate effectively with other stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement change to streamline the operation


Personal Specification:


  • In-depth experience in all aspects of road transport
  • Experience in fuel transport
  • Good geographical knowledge
  • Financial management experience
  • National or International CPC
  • Demonstrable leadership skills and experience
  • Experience working in a highly unionized environment with strong administrative and communication skills
