Client Overview:

Medacs Healthcare is seeking a Locum Senior Oncology Consultant specializing in Breast and Colorectal cancers. Competitive remuneration ranging from £99,532 to £131,964 based on experience, along with comprehensive employee benefits including access to the NHS Pension scheme. Flexible shifts available from Monday to Friday, with both full-time and part-time options considered.

On-call responsibilities are set at 1:20.


Job Plan:

- Full GMC registration and inclusion on the Specialist Register (or nearing completion within 6 months).
- Relevant experience at Consultant level or references supporting your transition to Consultant level.

Main Responsibilities:

As an Oncology Consultant, your duties will include:
- Actively supporting patients and their families, effectively communicating clinical information to clarify diagnoses, cancer stages, and treatment options through various methods to ensure comprehensive understanding.
- Assisting in the management of cancer-related side effects and symptoms, including pain management.
- Coordinating treatment plans and prescribing various treatment modalities, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
- Providing continuous monitoring and care for patients in critical or unstable conditions.
- Engaging in shared decision-making with patients.
- Collaborating within and, when appropriate, leading a multidisciplinary team.
- Assessing and prioritizing patient needs, delegating tasks effectively.
- Recognizing, reviewing, and reporting on patient conditions and any changes to both the patient and the multidisciplinary team.
- Performing essential administrative tasks, such as maintaining records of test results, writing prescriptions, providing cancer information to patients, and monitoring treatment plans.
