Quality Assurance Manager

This position is integral to the quality division, collaborating with all stakeholders to uphold superior quality standards and ensure compliance with AS9100 accreditation across all facets of product delivery and client interaction.

Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the quality management system, coordinating AS9100 audits and re-accreditation processes, followed by ongoing evaluation and enhancement of procedures.

This includes maintaining the quality of products and processes through thorough inspections, implementing quality control strategies, and pinpointing areas for enhancement.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve quality challenges, promote continuous improvement, and help create exceptional products that surpass customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality support to Engineering, Supply Chain, and clients, including the collection and analysis of supplier quality data, offering expertise, and assisting suppliers with product and process quality requirements.
  • Lead the development, execution, and enhancement of Quality Management Systems throughout the organization, offering quality leadership and support in the introduction and rollout of new products, processes, and services.
  • Participate in and lead internal Quality Systems audits, completing part approval documentation to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled in new or modified products and processes.
  • Analyze organizational quality metrics and conduct managerial reviews to assess results and propose action plans to address operational gaps.
  • Develop and implement a Quality framework that supports strategic business objectives and initiatives.
  • Design and deliver quality assurance training programs, facilitating training on quality-related subjects.
  • Ensure active participation in product development and launch activities, including identifying customer expectations, providing manufacturing and testing support, conducting reliability analyses, and performing design reviews.
  • Lead improvement teams in assessing process capability, developing process control plans, analyzing out-of-control conditions, and conducting process audits.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and auditing of complex inspection and testing plans, standards, acceptance criteria, and procedures/work instructions.
  • Evaluate the operational performance of the group to facilitate performance management, promotions, job transfers, dismissals, and commendations.
  • Coordinate with plant leadership to prepare consolidated plant, customer, and product status information along with action plans.

Required Skills:

  • Proven knowledge of quality assurance and continuous improvement methodologies, tools, and approaches, including strategic and project management.
  • Extensive experience with AS9100 accreditation and system audit/management.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in Quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • In-depth experience with the practical application of Quality tools and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment, achieving results and driving change through collaboration.
  • Capacity to understand customer Quality requirements and promote process enhancements.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with planning and organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to influence through solid relationships and a process-focused approach.
  • Good working knowledge of Quality Standards such as AS9100, AS9120 Rev B, APQP, PPAP, FAIR, PFMEA, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Actively implement structured problem-solving and robust Root Cause and Corrective Action techniques, such as 8D, RCCA, and 5-Why.

Qualifications:

  • BTEc Higher or equivalent, ideally a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Additional certification in Quality Assurance is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in a Quality management role within the Aerospace/Defence or related manufacturing sectors.
  • Membership in IQA and comprehensive knowledge of ISO9001:2015, along with ideally industry-specific accreditations such as AS9100.
