We are seeking an Engineering Fitter apprentice to join our team in September, who is enthusiastic about maintaining and repairing innovative products that are revolutionizing the world of vacuum technology. As a self-starter, you will be eager to learn and adapt to new challenges, working collaboratively with others to solve unique technical problems.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of workshop equipment and tools.
  • Learn to service our pumps by conducting regular checks and maintenance, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Acquire skills to repair and replace faulty parts, applying proven techniques and procedures.
  • Apply safe systems of working, including electrical safety testing, to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Participate in continuous training and development, working closely with our training provider, East Surrey College.

Training and Qualification

  • During the first year, you will spend three days a week at East Surrey College, learning fundamental engineering principles.
  • Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will obtain a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Engineering.

Career Progression and Opportunities

  • Upon successful completion of this scheme, you may be offered a Service Engineer role within our in-house team in Chessington, with potential opportunities to move into the field or within the wider Atlas Copco Group.
  • You may also be offered further training to expand your skills and knowledge.

Requirements and Expectations

  • 4 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or equivalent, including Mathematics, English, and a Science.
  • A strong passion for engineering, demonstrated through personal interests or school projects.
  • A keen interest in learning and growing as a service engineer.
  • Good timekeeping and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Able to take pride in your work and possess a keen eye for detail.
  • Adaptable and able to work collaboratively with others.
  • A 'can-do' attitude and a willingness to learn and grow.
