Veramed is seeking a Training and Development Lead to enhance our vibrant and expanding HR department. As a specialist biometrics CRO, Veramed delivers exceptional data management, statistical analysis, and programming services tailored for the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.

Our unique, people-centric philosophy has propelled our growth from 2 to 420 employees over the past 12 years across various regions. This role offers a hybrid working model to accommodate individual circumstances, requiring some weekly presence in our UK offices.

The Training and Development Lead will collaborate closely with the Director of Professional Development and Chief People Officer to design, oversee, and execute a comprehensive learning and development strategy aimed at nurturing a culture of continuous improvement at Veramed. Your responsibilities will include evolving our training framework to enhance workforce capabilities, skills, and competencies, ultimately fostering employee advancement and ensuring our team possesses the necessary skills to thrive and progress in their careers.

We are in search of a candidate with a proven track record in crafting and implementing in-house training programs and learning strategies. Strong communication skills and the ability to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders across the organization are essential.

The ideal candidate for the Training and Development Lead role will exhibit a positive, proactive attitude and an approachable demeanor. You will adopt a collaborative mindset while also taking the initiative in strategic planning, working alongside operational management and executive stakeholders. You enjoy uniting individuals and seeing projects through from inception to completion, while also recognizing the importance of adaptability and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities of the Training and Development Lead include:

  • Collaborate with managers and leaders to ensure the L&D strategy addresses the developmental needs of all employees, proactively creating and delivering innovative learning solutions.
  • Gain a deep understanding of Veramed's strategic objectives and develop an L&D strategy that aligns with the overall business goals, adapting to external pressures in our industry.
  • Assess current skill requirements, identify strengths and weaknesses, and develop a clear understanding of future skill needs to create a responsive L&D strategy.
  • Apply knowledge of industry-specific compliance regulations and standards effectively.
  • Evaluate the L&D strategy's effectiveness through participant feedback and assessments, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Utilize the learning management system (LMS) and other e-learning platforms to enhance training delivery.
  • Design and create learning materials to support independent development in key competency areas.
  • Identify training needs for management and leadership to support business and personal growth.
  • Manage the learning and development budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Work with line managers to promote a culture of learning as a core competency for leadership at Veramed.
  • Maximize the use of the Apprenticeship Levy.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Professional Development to establish frameworks for career pathways and succession planning.
  • Generate regular management information (MI) to support broader People Team initiatives and assess the ROI of development programs.
  • Communicate ongoing training updates to staff through internal channels.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external training providers and negotiate costs.

Additional Requirements:

  • BSc or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant field such as Human Resources, L&D, or Business.
  • Over 7 years of experience in a learning and development or training environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.
  • Experience in project management and budget oversight.
  • Knowledge of training evaluation techniques and metrics.
