Head of Finance

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Financial Director to join our team at the UK Atomic Energy Authority. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and direction of our organization.

• Lead the development and implementation of our financial strategy, ensuring alignment with our business objectives and goals.
• Oversee the preparation and management of our annual operating budget, ensuring effective financial planning and control.
• Provide strategic financial analysis and advice to our Executive team, identifying trends, variances, and risks to inform business decisions.
• Collaborate with our Programme Costing team to establish budgetary controls and manage scope and costing changes.
• Develop a deep understanding of our business and provide expert financial guidance to support our delivery of objectives.
• Work closely with our senior staff across the Programme, Commercial, and Risk and Assurance teams to ensure effective financial management and advice on complex financial issues.

• Qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience in senior finance roles, preferably as a Finance Business Partner or Head of Finance.
• Extensive experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, particularly in major programmes.
• Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to build, inspire, and motivate finance teams.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships, work effectively across matrix teams, and support senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate complex data to a wide audience outside of the finance function.
