Position Overview
We are in search of a skilled commercial Legal Advisor to join our legal team focused on the UK and Ireland. This role is pivotal to the operations of LG Electronics, addressing both current offerings and future growth opportunities.
This position will primarily support the smart TV platform service division within the Home Electronics Business unit. You will interact with various stakeholders, particularly senior management, making strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach essential, alongside a solid understanding of commercial dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stay informed about market trends and developments in the media and consumer products sectors.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of emerging business models.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, particularly concerning consumer products and licensing.
- Draft, negotiate, and provide guidance on a range of commercial agreements, including content licensing, partnerships, technology agreements, advertising, and distribution contracts relevant to the UK and Europe.
- Oversee compliance-related tasks, including training and updates via the internal compliance platform.
- Manage data protection responsibilities, including adherence to EU and UK GDPR, handling data subject requests, and negotiating data processing agreements.
- Monitor new legislation and regulations that may impact business operations, engaging with trade and government entities as necessary.
- Promote the effective use of LG's contract management system and other relevant tools.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales.
- 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience, preferably within an international law firm or in-house setting; however, candidates demonstrating the requisite skills will also be considered.
- Experience in commercial law, particularly within the IT, media, and content entertainment sectors, is essential.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- A keen interest in technology and its implications.
- Thorough knowledge of commercial contracts and media law.
- Ability to balance legal considerations with commercial objectives.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A client-centric approach to commercial matters.
