About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Ultrasound Sonographer to join our team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Radiology department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality ultrasound services to patients, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake and report on a variety of ultrasound examinations, including obstetrics, gynaecology, and general medical ultrasound.
  • Provide a high-quality, efficient, and effective ultrasound service, prioritizing workload and communicating results to clinicians and patients.
  • Work as an independent practitioner, performing scans to a high diagnostic standard and formulating comprehensive, accurate reports.
  • Provide specialist advice and training to staff and students within the Ultrasound Unit.
  • Safely use ultrasound equipment, resolving first-line problems and reporting faults to engineers.

Person Specification
  • Essential qualifications: DCR (R), Degree or BSc in Radiography, Midwifery, Nursing, Science, Health Science, or equivalent; relevant post-graduate qualification in ultrasound; current HCPC/NMC registration; evidence of completed and planned Continuing Professional Development.
  • Essential experience: full range of ultrasound experience, including obstetrics & gynaecology, general medical, and small parts ultrasound; experience of teaching and assessing student sonographers; recent NHS experience; working with the public and ill people; administration; willingness to undertake training and practice in new areas of ultrasound.
