Food Safety & Quality Technical Specialist

Musgrave NI is a leading food and beverage company with a rich history of innovation and community support. We are committed to delivering high-quality products and services to our customers, and we are seeking a skilled Food Safety & Quality Technical Specialist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Food Safety & Quality support across the supply chain, including grower/source, supplier, warehouse, product management, retailer, and consumer.
  • Operate to prescribed protocols and procedures, ensuring adherence to HACCP standards and quality requirements.
  • Liaise with Operations to ensure day-to-day adherence to Food Safety & Quality standards.
  • Conduct scheduled supplier visits to assess their Food Safety & Quality systems.
  • Communicate Food Safety & Quality issues to suppliers and follow up on responses.
  • Perform product testing and auditing at chill backdoor, as per agreed schedules and procedures.
  • Assess packaged Own Brand products against specification and verify MNI shelf life on fresh produce and meats.
  • Prepare product samples for benchmarking and implement support for auditors on gap analysis in product specifications.
  • Facilitate measuring and reduction of quality operational KPIs, including rejections, retailer claims, and retailer queries.
  • Review quality performance of products during Supplier and Store visits.
  • Effectively deal with issues and escalate to Food Safety Co-ordinator/Auditors as necessary.
  • Complete project work as directed by the Food Safety and Quality Team to improve Food Safety and Quality initiatives within the business.
Requirements:
  • Science/Food Science qualification essential.
  • Technical Quality experience and HACCP/Food Safety Management systems knowledge required.
  • Flexibility, quick learner, problem solver, good communication, and good organisational skills essential.
  • Full Driver's License and access to own car required.

This is a shift rotation position onsite in our Belfast Depot, working days - Sunday to Thursday for two weeks and then Monday to Friday for two weeks, covering daily hours between 9AM - 5.30PM.
