Position: Electrical Line Technician (Power)
Location: Northern Ireland
Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent
Overview:
The Electrical Line Technician will play a crucial role within the Project team, committed to following established protocols, delivering high-quality service, maintaining productivity, and being cost-conscious.
Reporting to the Site Supervisor, Electrical Line Technicians are tasked with constructing and maintaining the electrical distribution network, executing their responsibilities according to the provided guidelines and adhering to the approved specifications while complying with all safety regulations and industry best practices.
The ideal candidate should thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The role involves performing maintenance and upgrades on overhead electrical systems and associated power supply networks to fulfill the operational needs of the division.
Technicians are expected to work closely with the chargehand and site supervisor, following all safety measures and instructions provided by them.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all tasks comply with current and future health and safety regulations, relevant standards, and procedures.
- Collaborate with chargehand, site supervision, and client representatives.
- Complete all assigned work documentation accurately and submit it within the designated timelines.
- Provide technical insights relevant to their roles and responsibilities.
- Report near misses and positive observations promptly.
- Safely work at heights on poles and towers, utilizing Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) as necessary.
- Conduct maintenance, repairs, and refurbishments of overhead lines as directed.
- Utilize all necessary equipment for working on the overhead lines network as outlined in the operational manual.
- Take responsibility when performing work on customer properties.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
The successful candidate should possess:
- A valid driver's license
- Current authorizations relevant to the role
- Relevant safety accreditations
- Certification in Pole Top Rescue
- Manual Handling certification
- A recognized qualification in Electrical Linework or equivalent
- A minimum of four years of proven experience in a similar role.
- A solid understanding of project health and safety requirements.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Basic customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to work effectively within a dynamic team environment and deliver results.
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Monitor site practices to ensure adherence to relevant legislation and regulations, including the company's health and safety policy, to minimize the risk of accidents and associated liabilities.
- Identify training needs and coordinate with the Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Department to arrange necessary training for personnel.
