Position Overview

The Unscheduled Care Directorate is seeking a motivated and qualified Administrative Support Specialist to assist with the Respiratory contract. This role will involve providing essential administrative support for a duration of six months, with a commitment of 30 hours per week. The primary responsibilities include performing secretarial tasks such as transcribing medical documents, audio typing, managing correspondence, organizing filing systems, retrieving patient medical records, and overseeing patient pathways through relevant systems. The successful candidate will also handle inquiries from patients, families, caregivers, and external partners on a daily basis.

The ideal candidate will possess strong typing, communication, organizational, clerical, and IT skills. They should be capable of working independently while also being an effective team player.

Desirable Qualifications

Familiarity with NHS information systems, particularly WPAS (Myrddin), is advantageous. A solid understanding of Referral to Treatment principles and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to meet the needs of the public are critical for this role, necessitating a professional telephone demeanor and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

The Administrative Support Specialist will deliver comprehensive and high-quality administrative and secretarial assistance to consultants, physicians, and other professionals within the Respiratory Department.

Additionally, the role requires professional interaction with colleagues, visitors, and patients while undertaking a variety of administrative and secretarial tasks.

The candidate will be expected to effectively manage and prioritize their workload using their experience and initiative.

Qualifications

  • RSA/OCR Stage II/III or equivalent in word processing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • ECDL or equivalent experience.
