Connect2Kent presents a remarkable opportunity for seasoned Children's Care Home Managers to contribute to the management of a newly established Children's Home.


Job Objective:


Support the Registered Manager in fulfilling their responsibilities in accordance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Regulations, ensuring adherence to quality standards.

Oversee a team of Residential Support Workers while serving as a corporate guardian for the unaccompanied asylum-seeking children under our care, ensuring their safety and well-being until they transition to a more stable living situation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Registered Manager in overseeing the planned upkeep and enhancement of the living space to comply with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
  • Foster strong professional relationships with Ofsted officers and Independent Visitors to guarantee full cooperation during inspections. In the absence of the Registered Manager, respond effectively to their findings.
  • Manage daily operations within the home, ensuring that professional practices are monitored and executed according to service protocols, including addressing safeguarding issues as they arise.
  • Conduct a handover meeting at the beginning of each shift to ensure all Residential Support Workers are aware of their responsibilities and tasks for the shift. Ensure staff complete their assigned duties and escalate any issues to the Registered Manager.
  • Ensure that Residential Support Workers maintain comprehensive and accurate records for each child on Liberi, making them available for review by Social Workers and Managers. Quality assure the documentation completed by the team.
  • Ensure children attend all scheduled appointments and that Residential Support Workers document these visits on the same day. Arrange for a Residential Support Worker to participate in Child in Care Reviews.
  • Complete Incident Reports and submit them to the Registered Manager whenever concerns arise regarding the behavior and safety of children, staff, or third parties.
  • Assist the Registered Manager in managing bedroom availability to ensure there are beds for new arrivals on a daily basis.
  • Ensure Residential Support Workers complete checklists of children's belongings and rooms upon arrival and departure, accurately accounting for any money involved.
  • Develop a weekly activity schedule to provide children with engaging and meaningful learning experiences alongside their education. Encourage Residential Support Workers to promote children's participation in these activities.
  • Work flexible shift patterns as necessary to monitor, provide feedback, and ensure the ongoing effective implementation of practices by the team.
  • Advocate for equality and anti-discriminatory practices among children and staff, encouraging everyone to express their wishes and feelings.
  • Conduct regular formal supervision and create practice development plans with the Residential Support Workers.

Qualifications:
Minimum of GCSE Level or equivalent, or NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People.
Evidence of relevant professional development.

Compensation:
£17.07 per hour.
