Job Title: Senior News Editor - Lead the News Agenda

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior News Editor to join our team at the Telegraph. As a Senior News Editor, you will be responsible for leading the news agenda, delivering exclusive news stories, and crafting original ideas into news stories that have impact and are optimized across digital and print.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing a Strong Pipeline of Exclusive News Stories: You will be responsible for building and developing a strong pipeline of exclusive news stories that will set the news agenda and attract and retain Telegraph subscribers.
  • Attending Key News Conferences: You will attend key news conferences, present plans to senior editorial staff, and brief the team following the meetings.
  • Liaising with Other Departments: You will liaise with other departments to ensure best possible coverage and presentation of, and audience for, news stories.
  • Working with Specialist Reporters: You will work with specialist reporters and investigations to craft original ideas into news stories that have impact and are optimized across digital and print.
  • Editing Reporters' Stories: You will be responsible for editing reporters' stories to promote the strongest news lines.
  • Attending Planning Meetings: You will attend planning meetings, take responsibility for managing and presenting plans to editor and other senior editorial staff.
  • Proven Track Record: You will have a proven track record of news editing and seeking out and developing exclusive stories in a mainstream national news outlet.
  • Championing Innovative Research: You will champion innovative news research and investigation techniques.
  • Digital Content: You will embrace digital content and creative ways to tell news stories to an online audience.
  • Writing and Editing: You will have a strong ability to write and edit articles clearly, concisely, and to house style.
  • Organizational Skills: You will have good organizational skills, able to keep multiple projects on track and stakeholders up to date.
  • Motivating Others: You will be able to motivate others to work to high quality standards under pressure.
  • Addressing Conflicts: You will address potential conflicts that impact delivery targets and respond to shifting priorities.
